The Student Services Support staff member is responsible for assisting students with a variety of needs, including academic guidance, emotional support, and resource access. This role involves collaborating with teachers, counselors, and families to create a supportive environment that promotes student success and well-being. The Student Services Support staff member helps facilitate programs and services that address students' academic, social, and emotional development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Student Assistance:
    • Provide one-on-one support to students regarding academic issues, personal challenges, and school policies.
    • Assist students in developing organizational and study skills to enhance their academic performance.
    • Facilitate access to resources, such as tutoring, counseling, and extracurricular activities.
  2. Counseling and Guidance:
    • Support the school counseling program by assisting in the delivery of individual and group counseling sessions as applicable.
    • Help students identify their strengths, interests, and goals, guiding them toward academic and career planning as applicable.
    • Refer students to appropriate mental health resources or outside support services when necessary.
  3. Academic Support:
    • Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify students needing additional academic assistance and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
    • Assist in implementing academic support programs, such as tutoring and mentoring initiatives.
    • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  4. Attendance and Engagement:
    • Support attendance initiatives by tracking student attendance and contacting families regarding absences.
    • Assist with outreach efforts to engage students and families in school activities and resources.
    • Participate in programs aimed at increasing student engagement and participation in school life.
  5. Crisis Intervention:
    • Respond to student crises and emergencies, providing immediate support and referring to appropriate services.
    • Maintain a calm and supportive demeanor during difficult situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and community organizations to address students’ needs effectively.
    • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, school resources, and available support services.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on student welfare and academic success.
  7. Program Development:
    • Assist in developing and implementing programs and workshops that promote social-emotional learning, conflict resolution, and healthy decision-making.
    • Help organize school events and activities that foster a positive school culture and encourage student involvement.
  8. Record Keeping and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of student interactions, progress, and services provided.
    • Prepare reports and summaries of student needs and program effectiveness for review by school administration.

Requirements:Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field (preferred).
    • Associate’s degree or relevant certifications in counseling or education (acceptable).
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience working with students in an educational or support role (preferred).
    • Familiarity with school policies, educational programs, and community resources (preferred).
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively connect with students, families, and staff.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
    • Problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to crises.
    • Proficient in using technology and software for record-keeping and communication.
