About the Role
AKRF is an industry-leading traffic engineering and transportation planning practice known for its technical quality, innovative solutions, and dedication to client satisfaction. Our Hudson Valley Traffic and Transportation group works on transformative projects throughout the area, with a focus on Complete Streets, roadway safety, and municipal engineering. We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer/Planner in our Traffic and Transportation group to help drive the next generation of traffic and transportation solutions and improve roadway safety for our local communities. Our staff is exposed to a diverse experience in a broad range of regional, state, and municipal planning and engineering projects. The successful candidate will support traffic/transportation engineering design and planning projects throughout New York for AKRF’s Traffic and Transportation group located in White Plains, NY. Qualified candidates will be able to prepare analysis and design documents including project deliverables, and participate in client meetings and presentations to public audiences and boards. Job Responsibilities:
- Work within a team of professionals to develop traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for various transportation projects.
- Conduct comprehensive traffic impact studies to address multi-modal transportation issues, including those related to vehicular traffic, public transportation, pedestrian flow, street user safety, and parking.
- Conduct safety studies and road safety audits to develop comprehensive safety solutions for local communities
- Perform traffic modeling to simulate and analyze traffic flow and patterns, helping to predict and solve potential issues.
- Develop, analyze, and evaluate traffic improvement plans to enhance roadway safety and efficiency.
- Design roadways and intersections, ensuring they meet current safety standards and accommodate traffic flow effectively.
- Prepare and review technical memoranda and reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity in presenting findings and recommendations.
- Actively participate in meetings, including municipal board meetings, to share ideas with the team, clients, consultant partners, and other stakeholders
- Prepare and deliver analysis findings, concerns, and recommendations clearly and concisely to clients and stakeholders.
- Strong desire to learn and share knowledge with other team members to develop solutions.
Essential Requirements:
- 2-5 years of experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- EIT Certification, Professional Engineer license, or AICP certification or ability to obtain such
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Skilled in the preparation of traffic impact analyses
- Working knowledge of the ITE Trip Generation, ITE Parking Generation, HCM, MUTCD, AASHTO, PROWAG, NYSDOT HDM
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for preparation of conceptual-level drawings
- Proficiency traffic engineering and planning software, such as Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, and AutoTurn.
- Working knowledge of GIS software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience developing Excel macros is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability and desire to attend and present at municipal board meetings
- Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Compensation
Compensation will range from $85k to $100k and commensurate with experience.
