Position Title: Student Services Coordinator
Department: Student Services Reports To: Director of Student Services
Primary Location: Washington, DC FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Parameters: Full-time; 12 months/year Pay Range: $18.00
Position Summary: Responsible for advising and supporting student activities and management of department programming for the student and campus community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure student participation and input in all phases of program development and implementation.
- Review Scholarship applications
- Monitor students that participate in Dual enrollment. Serves as the point of contact for students. Enter student data.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with appropriate university policies and guidelines related to general regulations and procedures, students, student organizations, safety, and event management.
- Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate policies, procedures, and guidelines for engagement programming and related processes.
- Responsible for overseeing and/or coordinating space reservations, securing necessary event supplies and rentals.
- Responsible for developing a strategic schedule for events for the academic year that aligns with department mission, supports initiatives, and encourages co-sponsorship between organizations.
- Analyze data, and compile reports to support or inform management decisions and unit goals related to programming and student activities board.
Assist the Department of Student Services in its efforts to provide support, advising, training, and oversight to ensure effective and comprehensive campus programs, events, and traditions at BAU.
Directly advise one of the Class Councils in all aspects of planning and executing class-wide events and campus traditions
Advise other designated student organizations and committees in the development and implementation of social, educational, and cultural programs such as concerts, lectures, films, and special events for UF students.
Advise student leaders in all aspects of event programming including but not limited to idea development, budgeting, planning, advertising and promotion, program implementation, and program evaluation.
Interpret university policies for students and student organizations relating to the management of programs, contracts, safety, liability and risk management, and fiscal management.
Serve as a resource for event planning and management for students, staff, and faculty as needed.
Serve on the Event Support Team, volunteering at events outside of the department as appropriate.
Assist with budget planning, monitoring, and reporting for events.
Assist in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships in programming efforts with other BAU departments, including academic departments.
Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and promotions strategy for the services and programs of the Department of Student Activities and Involvement.

Education and Experience Requirements:
A Bachelors Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or comparable field or a Bachelors in an appropriate field and 3+ (three) years relevant experience
Demonstrated experience in advising students and working with event planning and student organizations at the college or university level.
Demonstrated planning, organization, and communication skills (verbal and written).
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with computers and basic software applications.
Demonstrated a commitment to creating an inclusive environment through strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
Demonstrated experience working with campus activities boards.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in marketing and promotions.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in budget development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures.
Knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of recruiting, job placement and/or career advising techniques Knowledge of certification tests used for career assessment.
Knowledge of tools used for student interest and personality type and the ability to interpret results of such tools to assist students in making sound decisions.
Knowledge of the proper operation of and the ability to use personal computers and standard office equipment.
Skill in evaluating a students academic interests and desires to formulate a plan designed to assist the student in achievement of specified career goals.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner.
Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail.
Ability to work independently while contributing to team environment.
Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions and take appropriate action, resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other department staff, students, and the public.
Ability to read and interpret policies related to academic programs and student requirements for participation in various programs.
Work Environment: Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office setting with appropriate climate control. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.
Physical Requirements: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting majority of time; walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.
