Rydal Park & Waters, one of Philadelphia’s premier nonprofit Life Plan Communities, is seeking an experienced and engaging Director of Community Life. Nestled in the heart of Jenkintown, our campus offers independent living, personal care, skilled nursing, and memory support come together on one beautiful campus, offering residents the freedom to live life fully with the peace of mind that comes from having a plan for the future.

Our ideal Director of Community Life is a highly organized leader who brings creativity, compassion, and operational excellence to the role. This position oversees all aspects of community life programming and services, including life enrichment, fitness, and spiritual care teams. This role is responsible for ensuring residents experience meaningful engagement, personalized care, and opportunities for connection and joy. Under limited supervision, the Director manages department operations, leads and develops team members, and ensures services align with the personal, physical, and cognitive needs of each resident while supporting independence, choice, and social well-being.


Compensation:
80-90K + a comprehensive benefits package


A day in the life may include:

  • Directing the daily operations of life enrichment and fitness teams. Also collaborating with concierge, spiritual care, and other departments
  • Overseeing community programming and resident activities that enrich engagement and promote wellness
  • Recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating team members to deliver high-quality service and care
  • Monitoring team member performance and department outcomes to ensure compliance with community standards, state regulations, and budget goals
  • Providing exceptional and courteous service to all residents, guests, and team members while promoting and protecting resident rights
  • Serving as editor of the community newsletter and maintaining effective resident communication channels
  • Developing and monitoring departmental budgets and managing inventory and purchasing needs
  • Supporting and/or chairing resident committees, evaluation meetings, and other community initiatives
  • Maintaining department compliance with OSHA and supporting community safety programs

To be successful in this role, you would have:

  • A genuine passion for serving older adults
  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, business, recreational therapy, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of related leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 2-5 years of prior supervison/leadership of a department; previous experience in roles such as Director of Activities, Director of Hospitality is strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to foster teamwork, lead with empathy, and create a positive, service-oriented culture
