Essential Duties & Responsibilities

· Provide leadership, supervision, and technical direction for geotechnical engineering staff and subcontractors on multiple concurrent projects.
· Develop and manage project scope, schedule, and budgets; ensure timely and high-quality delivery of geotechnical analyses, reports, and designs.
· Oversee and review technical work related to subsurface investigations, laboratory testing, foundation design (deep and shallow), settlement, seepage, and slope stability analyses.
· Direct and review risk assessments, dam and levee inspections, and risk communication documentation for civil and environmental infrastructure.
· Serve as the senior reviewer for geotechnical reports, design packages, and construction support documents.
· Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project compliance with technical and contractual requirements.
· Lead the development of engineering standards, design practices, and quality assurance processes.
· Support business development by identifying new opportunities, preparing technical proposals, and participating in client presentations.
· Implement project management systems, monitor performance metrics, and mentor technical staff in best practices and quality management.
· Provide oversight of subcontractor and consultant performance and participate in procurement processes, including bid evaluations and contract negotiations.
· Promote a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration across project teams.
· Occasional travel to project sites, client offices, and company meetings will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
· Minimum of 10+ years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience, including analysis, design, and construction support for major infrastructure projects.
· Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) required; California registration preferred (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
· Demonstrated experience in project and technical management of levee, dam, or large-scale civil works projects.
· Strong understanding of geotechnical risk assessment, subsurface characterization, seepage and stability modeling, and foundation engineering.
· Experience directing, training, and mentoring engineering staff and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
· Must be able to obtain clearance to access military bases and operate vehicles on federal facilities.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and geotechnical design software (e.g., GeoStudio suite, gINT/OpenGround, PLAXIS preferred).
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present complex geotechnical information to non-technical audiences.
· Familiarity with USACE, FEMA, and federal infrastructure design standards.
· Strong project management skills, including budget control, schedule management, and stakeholder coordination.
· Ability to manage and resolve complex technical and organizational issues independently.
· Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and initiative in developing and implementing engineering solutions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Job is performed in a modern office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. May require travel up to a week out of office. Remote work will be considered for this position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the work of engineering and technical personnel.
· Provide technical direction and review to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
· Operate with general direction and significant independence; establish goals and methods consistent with corporate strategy.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
