American Rooter is a trusted leader in water and sewer line repairs, specializing in excavation and service line replacements. We partner with home service line protection companies that cover homeowner service lines from the foundation wall of the home to the municipal connection in the street. We are seeking an experienced Excavation Operator to join our team and help support our growing operations.

Job Responsibilities:

This position requires a high level of experience and confidence in excavation work related to water and sewer service lines. The ideal candidate will be skilled in digging down to homeowner service lines and performing repairs or full replacements while navigating underground utilities such as water mains, gas mains, and electrical lines.

The Excavation Operator will be responsible for excavating and repairing water and sewer lines, ensuring that all work is completed safely and efficiently. Candidates must be proficient in operating a mini excavator and handling street cuts, trenching, and backfilling. Responsibilities include:

• Operating a mini excavator to dig and repair water and sewer service lines.
• Excavating in streets, driveways, and yards, making precise cuts and ensuring minimal disruption to surrounding areas.
• Navigating and working safely around underground utilities such as gas, water, and electrical lines.
• Performing excavation, trenching, and backfilling in compliance with safety and industry standards.
• Ensuring job site safety protocols are followed by all crew members.
• Communicating with plumbing inspectors and adhering to all municipal codes and requirements.
• Completing at least two excavation repairs per day efficiently and accurately.
• Learning and abiding by coverage details provided by our service line protection partners.
• Using mobile applications to upload clear, detailed notes and job photos upon completion of each project.
• Utilizing Teams and other internal systems to manage daily operations and communications.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in outside water and sewer line repairs.
• Proficiency in operating a mini excavator and other excavation equipment.
• Experience working around water mains, gas mains, and electrical lines with a strong understanding of utility safety.
• Ability to tow and transport excavation equipment as needed.
• Valid drivers license with a clean driving record (CDL is a plus but not required).
• Strong ability to work efficiently while maintaining job site safety.
• Experience cutting streets and driveways for excavation and performing restorations.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work as part of a team.
