The Superintendent manages client expectations and provides leadership to field teams on complex commercial construction projects. Organizes and directs trade partners and suppliers, ensuring projects meet safety, timeliness, budget, and customer satisfaction goals. Responsibilities:

  • Attends project kickoff meeting two weeks before start to establish communication baseline.
  • Reviews project details with PM, including contracts, drawings, schedule, and creates site-specific logistics, operations, and safety plans.
  • Conducts pre-start meeting with each subcontractor’s crew to review scope, schedule, and expectations.
  • Creates detailed project schedule, manages material deliveries, and handles long-lead items.
  • Collaborates with PM on risk assessment and schedule recovery plans as needed.
  • Manages and schedules trade partner work, coordinating with foremen and other trades.
  • Leads progress meetings with owners and subcontractors to review status, safety, and upcoming work.
  • Submits RFIs to architect/engineer/designer and follows up with PM for resolution.
  • Records work activities, documents completed work, and tracks time in Procore.
  • Ensures quality control for ongoing and completed work, holding subcontractors accountable.
  • Resolves issues, documents changes, and communicates with relevant trades and PMs.
  • Updates drawings with bulletins or addendums as needed.
  • Completes and updates weekly look-ahead schedule with detailed work sequencing.
  • Coordinates inspections for materials, building, soils, and engineering.
  • Champions safety from logistics planning through completion, holding trade partners accountable.
  • Records incidents and near-misses, engaging Safety Manager during inspections.
  • Maintains a safe, clean jobsite, equipment, and vehicle in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Works with PM to close out the project, ensuring punch list completion and demobilization.
  • Tracks lessons learned and shares client feedback with the team.
  • Manages client relationships and expectations to generate repeat work.
  • Ensures team adherence to safety practices and logistical methods.
  • Maintains accurate project budgets and timely financial tasks.
  • Submits change orders with cost breakdowns and supporting documents.
  • Coordinates with PM on scope changes and resolves design or construction issues.
  • Instills pride in the project team through commitment to community, integrity, and quality.
  • Maintains effective communication with project teams, trade partners, and clients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience or more leading construction crews as a Superintendent, coordinating unlimited concurrent trade contractors and crew sizes.
  • Multi-Unit/Hotel experience required.
  • Cross functional commercial construction experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • The following trainings are required (and provided by Wolverine):
  • OSHA 30-Hour certified or completed within six months of hire.
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Heavy machine operator card, rigging awareness, asbestos awareness, and aerial work platform operator training.
  • FMI Field Leadership certification or equivalent or completed within six months of hire.
