Special Education Teacher (K–12)
Location: Wilmington, DE 19805
Compensation Rate: Up to $65 per hour, depending on experience
Full-Time | K–12 School Setting

Your Role & Responsibilities

Support and teach a caseload of K–12 students receiving special education services
-
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal requirements
-
Adapt and modify curriculum to ensure access to the general education setting
-
Create a safe, engaging, and student-centered classroom environment
-
Collect and analyze data to measure progress toward student goals
-
Collaborate with general education teachers to deliver content standards and supports
-
Provide individual and small group instruction using research-based best practices
-
Maintain open communication with families about student progress
-
Stay current with best practices in special education and IEP implementation
-
Perform additional duties as assigned to support student success
Required Qualifications
-
Valid Delaware Teaching License
-
Special Education Teacher Certification (K–12) in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1531
-
Successful completion of Praxis II exams
-
Strong knowledge of special education laws and requirements
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
-
Certification in ELA, Math, Science, or Social Studies
-
Experience teaching in Middle or High School classrooms
-
Experience creating and implementing IEPs
-
Knowledge of data collection and progress monitoring
-
Familiarity with research-based math and reading interventions
-
Experience modifying and accommodating curriculum
