Job Summary:
The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the athletic program, contributing to player development, team operations, and overall program excellence. This role models professional conduct, demonstrates strong coaching expertise, and actively participates in program leadership to uphold the mission and standards of Northwest Christian.
Job Description:
Professional Conduct
- Exhibits appropriate and professional conduct during games.
- Maintains appropriate and professional conduct during practices.
- Interacts respectfully and appropriately with game officials and opposing coaches and players.
- Maintains positive appearance, manners, behavior, and language at all times.
- Conducts personal life in a manner consistent with NWC values and expectations.
- Arrives on time and prepared for all practices and games.
- Maintains required WIAA certifications, including continuing education clock hours and current CPR/First Aid training.
- Attends school, league, district, and state meetings as required.
- Adheres to all school, league, and WIAA policies, procedures, and rules.
Coaching Expertise
- Develops a firm foundation for all aspects of the program through the implementation of Biblically based Enduring Understandings and Essential Questions intentionally communicated in regular devotions and affirmed in teachable moments.
- Helps foster unity of purpose between all program coaches.
- Helps foster high caliber and quality instruction.
- Develops a positive mentoring relationship with players.
- Maintains a positive relationship with parents.
- Provides locker room and bus supervision for their athletes.
- Ensures the safety of the athletes during practices and games.
- Handles injury situations in an appropriate manner.
- Works with head coach on their specific roles on the team.
Program Leadership
- Supports the head coach in developing spiritual, athletic, and academic goals for the program.
- Provides positive communication with coaches, players, and parents.
- Helps the head coach track, maintain and store inventory and equipment.
Compensation: $1,200-$1,500 stipend
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Prior coaching experience (Preferred).
- Demonstrated personal relationship with Jesus Christ, exemplifying a lifestyle that honors God, actively participating in an evangelical Bible-believing church, and approaching this role with a servant’s heart that reflects its importance as a ministry of NWCS.
- Proven interpersonal communication skills with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
- Proven ability to teach and motivate athletes.
- Coaching expertise/knowledge of sport, motivation, strategies, and tactics
- Organized and the ability to multi-task.
- Maintain a First Aid/CPR certification.
