Why Are You Here:

The R&D Scientist supports the development of products, evaluation of raw materials, formulations, and the review of raw material and finished goods documentation for Arbonne nutrition products. This position is knowledgeable in product formulation, flavors and assay of ingredients, and commercialization of product concepts, and carries the product from concept through to completion. The R&D Scientist works closely with the cross-functional team and outside suppliers/manufacturers to initiate, evaluate plans, support execution, and report on activities related to the development of new products, improvements or cost saving initiatives. This role will work closely with the Arbonne Quality department in review and assessment of product stability studies, and raw material and finished product specifications. The R&D Scientist ensures that Arbonne nutrition products are in compliance with corporate policies and desired certifications, FDA cGMP regulations and other global regulations.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Support the development of new and improved nutrition products with third party manufacturers from conceptualization to commercialization
  • Work with third party manufacturers to develop and review formulas for accuracy according to Arbonne formulation standards, and ensure prototypes meet the Marketing Product Brief requirements, Arbonne ingredient policy, and Arbonne certification and regulatory requirements
  • Works with third-party manufacturers to interpret and deliver proposed formulas, reports, and test results to both R&D and cross-functional teams
  • Partners with Regulatory team to understand global regulatory formulation requirements, including, but not limited to, Canada, Europe and Asia/Pacific, to ensure formula compliance
  • Works closely with third-party manufacturers, and Arbonne R&D and Quality personnel to support trouble shooting any formulation issues
  • Works closely with assigned cross-functional team members from Supply Chain and Operations, third-party manufacturers, Marketing, Legal, Regulatory, and Business Development on assigned projects to support business initiatives
  • Support cross-functional team in planning and execution of prototypes, product pilot trials and production
  • Assist in managing submission of product samples for testing to outside laboratories.
  • Work closely with Regulatory, R&D, Q.A. and Supply Chain to support development of new raw material vendor qualification
  • Request raw material and finished good specifications and other required documentations for all products sold by Arbonne from contract manufacturers and raw material supplier.
  • Analyze Ingredient and RM clinical studies for Product Development
  • Check and assure that all documentation received is credible, legitimate and in compliance.
  • Ensures orderly storage and organization of all documentation in compliance with internal procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) regulations by creating hard copies and electronic files (P- Drive)
  • Update and maintain the database of all raw materials and finished good specifications and electronic files
  • Ensure all new formulas/products comply to the most current version of Arbonne‘s ingredient policy. Collect necessary supplier's information for the approval.
  • Work closely with Quality, Procurement and Regulatory for new raw material vendor qualification
  • Partner with Regulatory to monitor and update Heavy Metal matrix grid and determine safe harbor levels for each heavy metal. Verify and cross check every Heavy metal report for OOS using the Heavy metal matrix
  • Participate in the development, revision, and implementation of documented procedures and work closely with members of cross-functional teams throughout the organization
  • Update and maintain workflows, databases and files according to change management procedures
  • Coordinate with Director of Clinical Efficacy and Substantiation on safety and efficacy testing and archive reports on internal database
  • Work with R&D Specialist and various 3rd party certifying authorities and get Arbonne products certified in timely manner

What You Need:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Degree in chemistry, nutrition or the physical sciences, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of nutraceutical industry experience
  • Commitment to model and live out our Core Values (Accountability, Community, Innovation and Courage) and a positive mindset are critical for success and should reflect in everything you do

Preferred qualifications:

  • Food Science or Nutrition background.
  • Experience developing innovative new food supplements and/or dietary supplements
