2nd Shift Overhead Crane Operator

Job Description**Position Summary
**
The Overhead Crane Operator will operate a remote overhead crane to distribute full steel plates, work orders and shipments to the appropriate area in the shop. This position must adhere to and observe workplace safety rules and guidelines. The Crane Operator must be able to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematics, stand, bend, and lift objects throughout a normal shift. A successful Crane Operator will operate the cranes efficiently with precision, take complete charge of all safety, and clean and maintain the hoisting mechanisms.

- Operate a remote-controlled overhead crane
- Move steel plates, shipments, and work orders to appropriate area in the shop by using hoisting attachments, such as hook, sling, and electromagnet.
- Observe load hookup and determine safety of load.
- Manipulate or depresses crane controls, to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
- Clean and maintain crane and hoisting mechanism.
- Inspects crane for defective parts and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
- Stacking and sending parts, pallets to Final Inspection Area labeled with numbers
- Ensure all parts are traceable by marking parts
- Crane Operators are responsible for making sure parts are accounted for prior to moving orders to designated area

**Qualifications and Requirements
**
- Minimum 2 years’ experience industry experience.
- Proficient in oral and written communication.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Ability to conduct daily and monthly equipment inspections.
Education and Experience
- **High School diploma or equivalent
**
- **2 years of industry experience or a combination of education, training, and experience
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position operates in a manufacturing shop environment. Exposure to noise, chemicals, and materials consistent with a manufacturing environment is constant. This a physically demanding position; maintaining the physical strength to lift materials up to 50lbs. Endure prolonged standing.
