Middle School Math Teacher (Grades 6-8)
Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Mathematics Teacher to join our team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Math Teacher to support middle school students in transitioning between grade levels and bridging gaps in mathematical understanding. This role is ideal for a teacher passionate about helping students build foundational math skills and confidence in preparation for high school. The Math Teacher will work closely with students who need additional support in math, using a variety of instructional strategies and tools to help them succeed.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards.
- Teach targeted, differentiated math instruction to students who need support in bridging gaps in their mathematical knowledge.
- Implement individualized or small-group instruction based on student assessments and data, addressing the specific needs of each learner.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Collaborate with colleagues on educational initiatives and participate in professional development.
- Develop and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons to enhance student understanding and retention of key math concepts.
- Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages risk-taking and a growth mindset.
- Set clear expectations for behavior, work habits, and academic achievement.
- Manage classroom dynamics effectively, offering additional support to students who may feel discouraged or challenged by the material.
- Regularly assess student progress through both formative and summative assessments, adjusting instruction as needed.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with educational best practices.
Experience
- A degree in Mathematics or a related field; advanced degrees are preferred.
- Previous experience teaching middle school math or providing intervention support for struggling learners is preferred.
- NYS Teacher Certification.
- Strong understanding of middle school math curriculum and best practices for differentiated instruction.
- Familiarity with Instructional Design principles to create effective learning materials.
- Proven ability to dissect complex mathematical concepts for diverse learners.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to student success.
