Title: Database Architect

Location: Albany, NY – Hybrid
Rate: Depends on experience
Position Overview:
Project is part of the New York HBITS initiative to support criminal justice systems. The role focuses on software database design and integration using JAVA, JEE, Oracle PL/SQL, and IBM WebSphere technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement software database solutions, including data modeling
- Analyze, design, develop, and review enterprise applications using JAVA/JEE, JSF, XML, XSLT
- Write DML, DDL scripts, and stored procedures to support justice-related data systems
- Serve as primary technical liaison with infrastructure teams to resolve performance issues
- Collaborate on performance testing, failover, and deployment strategies
- Oversee data analysis, access, modeling, testing, and implementation
- Review and prepare schemas and design specifications
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to development team
- Work closely with state staff for code reviews and cross-training
- Ensure compliance with ITS security and training requirements
Qualifications:
- 7 years of experience designing scalable multitier applications using OO or SOA on IBM platforms
- 7 years of experience with Java Development Kit (JDK 1.6 or higher)
- 7 years of experience using Oracle 10g or higher with PL/SQL
- 7 years of experience with Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) and JPA/Hibernate
- 7 years of experience leading Agile/iterative teams in JEE system integration
- 7 years of experience developing with Java Server Faces (JSF) in IBM WebSphere Portal
- 7 years of experience deploying on IBM WebSphere Application Server
- 7 years of experience with IBM WebSphere MQ and Java Web Services (JAXB/JAX-WS)
- 4 years of experience working with state or federal criminal justice systems
