NYU Tisch UGFTV, Associate/Full Professor, Department Chair

NYU Tisch is searching to fill the position of Chair of the Department of Undergraduate Film and Television beginning in September 2026. We seek a dynamic, creative and collaborative leader to guide our premier department. They will be responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership, overseeing departmental operations and advocating for the department’s priorities to the school and university administration. The position will be on a full-time, Associate or full Professor tenure line. (Please note: Tisch School of the Arts Department Chairs are fixed appointments, renewable at the discretion of the Dean.)

This pre-eminent BFA program trains students in a rigorous, hands-on approach to film, television and digital media. The department curriculum includes coursework in the following areas of specialization: production, post-production, scriptwriting, producing, directing, sound recording and design, cinematography, animation, and film history & criticism. The ideal candidate will have a proven professional production background, a strong commitment and desire to work with students and familiarity with the film television and/or digital media industry. On-going professional work is expected and encouraged. Evidence of teaching experience or ability at the university level is preferred, as well as demonstrated leadership ability in a creative and collaborative environment. The regular teaching load for Undergraduate Film and Television full-time faculty is five courses per year. The Chair will administer the department; oversee on-going curriculum development; schedule faculty; teach one course per semester; advise students; and participate in departmental and school-wide committees.
