Job Purpose

The Senior Contract Specialist will be responsible for managing the organization's contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and aligning with company policies. The Senior Contracts Specialist is responsible for reviewing contract requests of medium and high complexity as assigned and collaborates with lawyers and business groups to ensure that all contracts are compliant with company policies, risk and governance requirements. The Senior Contracts Specialist is responsible for overseeing the creation, negotiation, and monitoring of all contracts within the organization and to review, analyze, redline, assess risk(s) and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best possible terms and delivery in support of business requirements with minimal guidance from manager. Additionally, the Senior Contracts Specialist is the primary interface to educate business groups in understanding contract terms that will enable them to make sound business decisions, follow up with suppliers to ensure that the quality of service and/or deliverables are met. The Senior Contracts Specialist is also primarily responsible to provide mentorship, guidance and training to business teams as needed. The Senior Contracts Specialist will also develop and implement contract management policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Review, analyze, redline, risk assess risk(s) and negotiate agreements with
  • medium to high complexity.
  • Responsible for auditing of contracts and Contract Repository management
  • Define required agreements based on engagement type
  • Regional Support Lead
  • Train and support for other team members and internal customers
  • Perform basic to intermediate legal research under supervision, as requested
  • Responsible to study and provide optimization themes and / or process
  • improvements / efficiencies

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or closely related field or equivalency in procurement tenure and experience
  • Paralegal certification is required

Minimum Experience:

  • 2-5 years contract experience in a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills are required
  • Contract management
  • Computer skills Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Other Job-Specific Skills

  • Microsoft project experience
  • Familiarity with procurement ERP system (Ariba, SAP, etc.) or Understanding of on-line catalogue ordering and administration.
  • Business Acumen

Decisions Expected

  • Review, Analyze, Redline and Negotiate Agreements including mediation of problem resolution and for compliancy and adherence to corporate guidelines while additionally ensuring that document support and process approvals are in accordance with HTA governance and compliance requirement in place.
  • Negotiation of agreement terms and conditions prior to document execution.
  • Regional Support Lead – support region with any questions or concerns and provide guidance
