Position: Athletics Manager (Full-Time, Exempt)
Hiring Salary Range: $85,015 - $108,993
Full Salary Range: $85,015 - $132,971

Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Recreation, this position is responsible for directing, planning, organizing, scheduling, and implementing a comprehensive recreation program in a variety of assigned areas of responsibility. The areas of responsibility include: adult and youth athletics leagues, programs and other recreational classes and special events for the District at various indoor and outdoor locations and facilities. Work includes leading, directing, and assigning work; developing, marketing, and evaluating comprehensive community sports programs; and developing, reviewing, and monitoring assigned budgets.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall operation of the Athletics department by developing, coordinating and marketing scheduled programs and activities, planning and budgeting of operational procedures relative to function and maintenance, and overseeing sports and gymnastics programs at indoor facilities and District park sites.
- Plan, implement and supervise all maintenance activities including pre-determined service contracts as identified for Athletics department and facilities. Build and maintain collaborative, cooperative relationships with internal maintenance and service teams including Parks and Facility Maintenance.
- Prepare and monitor budget, manage revenues and expenditures and prepare financial reports. Prepare purchase orders, RFP’s, and invoice requests. Prepare short and long-range revenue/expenditure projections, check revenue streams, etc. Develop and implement strategies to increase usage of assigned areas. Calculate program fees to meet cost-recovery goals. Formulating comprehensive business plans by researching and analyzing market information is essential.
- Work closely with the Marketing team to develop, implement, and track results of all marketing strategies to maximize registrations, facility utilization, and notify the public of District events. Promote a positive image to the public. Participate in community planning and organizational meetings.
- Schedule athletic fields and related recreational facilities for program use; coordinate weather related field maintenance and other schedule changes; resolve scheduling disputes; identify proper use fees; negotiate and administer field use contracts with external entities; coordinate specific field setup needs.
- Select, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies.
- Develop and maintain relationships with District employees, vendors, various outside user groups and associations to coordinate their programs, tournaments, special events and league play. Manage agreements and coordinate communications with independent contractors.
- Determine community needs by evaluating programs and activities; make recommendations for improvement, future development, and implement changes as needed.
- Prepare, enforce, maintain and modify policies and procedures manuals; conduct periodic staff meetings to provide and gather information, answer questions and respond to complaints and concerns, both internally and externally.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of recreational services as well as various athletic interests and markets to facilitate off-season utilization.

Bachelor’s degree in a Recreation or directly related field and four (4) years of programming experience including four (4) years supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and years of experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within thirty (30) days of employment. Must be insurable by the District carrier at the onset and for the duration of employment.

Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods and general office equipment (computer, copier, fax, etc.). Proficiency with applicable computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Rec Biz, etc.) and POS/League scheduling (Team Sideline).
