Position Overview

The Settlement Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the settlement disbursement process, working closely with the pre-litigation and litigation teams. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have a background in medical billing, basic accounting, and client service, with the ability to learn the nuances of personal injury law. Direct personal injury experience is a plus, but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft comprehensive settlement memos for attorney review.
• Request and track final balances from medical providers.
• Communicate with healthcare providers to negotiate reductions of medical bills and liens.
• Finalize settlement allocations and ensure accuracy in all financial calculations.
• Schedule and coordinate settlement disbursement meetings with clients.
• Collaborate with pre-litigation and litigation attorneys and case managers to confirm settlement details and outstanding obligations.
• Enter, track, and maintain accurate data within the firm’s CRM and case management systems.
• Provide excellent customer service by keeping clients informed throughout the disbursement process.
• Assist with reporting and financial reconciliation related to settlements as requested by the Director of Operations.

Qualifications

• Required:
  • Experience in medical billing, healthcare finance, or accounting support.
  • Basic accounting and financial reconciliation skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort using CRM or case management systems.
  • Professionalism and empathy when interacting with clients.
• Preferred:
  • Prior experience with personal injury or other legal adjacent field/industry.
  • Knowledge of lien resolution and medical provider negotiations.
