Mechanical Assembly Technician – SPARKS/GLENCOE, MD
Pay Rate: $22.05/hour
Schedule:
Monday – Thursday | 7:00 PM – 5:00 AM (Overnight)
JOB SUMMARY
The Tech 3, Scientific Operations is responsible for manufacturing and assembling clinical and commercial products while ensuring strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This role involves operating production equipment, performing in-process testing, validating equipment and processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The technologist also handles the safe removal and disposal of chemicals and assists with onboarding and training.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manufacture and assemble clinical and commercial products using production equipment
- Weigh, measure, and check raw materials to ensure batches meet ingredient and quantity specifications
- Assist with in-process testing to ensure batch compliance with specifications
- Validate processes and equipment related to filtration, cleaning, and sterilization
- Remove and safely dispose of waste chemicals, solvents, and acids
- Prepare solutions, powders, and liquids according to batch specifications
- Provide training support for new hires or new procedures
- Support lead/supervisor as needed and recommend process improvements
- Follow all BD housekeeping and safety policies and procedures
- Demonstrate adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Work overtime as required to meet business needs
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma with technical certification in laboratory operations plus 3 years of laboratory experience, or
- Associate degree in a scientific discipline with 2–3 years of laboratory experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline with 1–2 years of laboratory experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management skills
- Ability to work independently
- Proficient in English: read, write, analyze charts, follow diagrams, perform basic arithmetic
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
