Trust & Estates Administrative Paralegal (PERM)
Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid)
Hybrid schedule: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote
Salary: $90,000–$125,000
Position Summary
The Trust & Estates Administrative Paralegal supports domestic estate and trust administration, including fiduciary accounting. This role involves handling a high volume of detailed work and managing estate administration from start to finish, working independently while collaborating with attorneys as needed.
Strong math, organizational, and technology skills are essential due to the accounting and tax-focused nature of the work. The role also requires professionalism, empathy, and strong client service skills when working with individuals during difficult or stressful times.
Responsibilities
- Identify, gather, and value estate assets
- Prepare probate filings, estate documents, and fiduciary accountings
- Prepare estate and trust accountings
- Prepare federal and state estate tax returns
- Review and interpret wills and trust documents with attorneys to carry out estate and trust plans
- Perform basic research using legal and reference materials
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate (or equivalent experience)
- Knowledge of court and regulatory procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), PDF tools, and document management systems
- Experience with tax preparation and accounting software (e.g., FastTax, ProSystems)
- Ability and willingness to learn new technology and software
- Understanding of client confidentiality and basic business principles
