Position Summary: The Personal Trust and Wealth Management Trust Officer provides complete administration of assigned customer accounts, including trusts, estates, agencies and conservatorships. This experienced professional acts as the primary contact for their accounts and manages them according to governing standards.
This role is eligible for hybrid work from home opportunity under the work from home guidelines up to one day per week upon completion of onboarding.
Essential Functions:
- Provide complete administration of assigned customer accounts, including trusts, estates, agencies and conservatorships.
- Act as a primary contact person for assigned customer accounts and manage them according to governing standards and with regard for the specific needs of the principals, beneficiaries and remaindermen.
- Consult with clients and their attorneys concerning the preliminary draft, and final details of client-specific provisions within their Estate Plans.
- Administer simpler and less complex trusts, estates, individual retirement accounts, and agency accounts. As Trust Officer skillset & aptitude increases, they can become eligible to be moved to AVP & Trust Officer.
- Monitor daily operations of trust accounts with the investment officer. Ensure proper asset allocation, respond to customers’ tax and investment questions, and handle excess monies and overdrafts through timely buys and sells as necessary.
- Prepare or assemble necessary income projections, death valuation, and other material required for client and committee meetings.
- Assist with the department’s tax reporting process, which includes informational tax reporting and fiduciary, individual, estate and gift tax return preparation and compliance.
- Assist Trust Services Advisors (Business Development Officers) with marketing trust services to prospects and professionals. This includes complete review of estate plans. Trust Officers and AVP & Trust Officers shall also have individual goals regarding new business development.
- Learn and assist officer with complex wealth transfer planning such as lifetime gifting, Grantor Retained Annuity Trust (GRATs), Intentionally Defective Grantor Trust (IDGTs), Spousal Lifetime Access Trust (SLATs), etc.
- Prepare and develop individualized reporting for Private Wealth customers.
- Ensure direct reports are trained and comply with bank policy, laws and regulations applicable to their roles. Monitor their adherence to internal controls and take action to address employee performance issues.
- Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training. Follow internal processes and controls as required.
- Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in Bank policies.
- Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or comparable Personal Trust experience preferred.
- Law degree, CPA designation or other applicable advanced professional certification desired.
- Minimum 3-5 years tax, trust administrative and/or banking experience preferred.
- Well-developed knowledge of Estate Planning, Personal Trust Administration, Tax (fiduciary, estate and individual), Wealth Management and Business Development is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and in working with other financial software.
- Valid Nebraska Driver’s License.

Working Environment:
