Work Mode: Onsite

Location:  Onsite, four days per week - Kohler, WI

As\na Sr. Staff Engineer – Facilities this is your chance to have a tangible impact at\nthe Kohler Co. Members of the Corporate Headquarters-based Electrical\nEngineering team support the company’s transformation and growth by providing design,\ndesign guidance, project management, coordination and installation of power\ndistribution, lighting, fire alarm, emergency power systems, and building\nmanagement systems (BMS) for new facilities, renovations, or expansion of\nexisting facilities. These functions are on a global scale and international\ntravel to remote locations in developing countries could be required (domestic\nand international travel could be up to 15%). On-site presence is strongly\npreferred; however, a hybrid remote/on-site work model will be considered for\nthe ideal candidate. On-site presence is expected per project and other\nadministrative requirements.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and lead process improvement\nand risk mitigation projects, programs, and initiatives, communicating progress\nand outcomes effectively to senior executives. This role requires the ability\nto simplify complex information into clear, executive-friendly communications.
  • Assemble project packages and manage projects\nof varying complexity, including defining scope, securing stakeholder buy-in\nthrough strategic communication, providing value engineering opportunities,\nmanaging bidding, budget tracking, and construction management. Succinct\ncommunication with senior leadership on project status and challenges is\nessential.
  • Mentor junior team members, emphasizing the\nimportance of effective communication skills alongside technical expertise.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments and\ncalculations for electrical system installations or modifications, supporting a\nbroad spectrum of projects.
  • Develop conceptual plans, design packages,\nvalue-engineering assessments, detailed specifications, engineering drawings,\nand/or basis of design standards/owner project requirements, ensuring clear and\neffective communication with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate electrical system design with other\nengineering disciplines, estimating project costs including engineering hours,\nmaterials, and installation. This includes the ability to articulate complex\ninterdisciplinary considerations in concise, strategic communications.
  • Coordinate the efforts of external consultants\nand contractors (both foreign and domestic) engaged in support of projects,\nensuring clear, strategic, and effective communication of project goals and\nexpectations.
  • Commission new electrical systems and\ntroubleshoot existing systems, analyzing infrastructure for potential failure\nmodes, and recommend remediation actions. Effectively communicate technical\nassessments and remediation strategies to inform decision-making.

Skills/Requirements

\n \n

  • Bachelor of Science degree\nin Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a focus on\nElectrical Systems from an ABET accredited institution, and 6 or more years of\nrelevant work experience. Degree and experience requirements may be altered for\nthe right candidate at the sole discretion of the hiring manager.
  • Strong,\ndemonstrated experience with building electrical system design, specifically low\nand medium voltage systems.
  • Proficiency\nwith fire alarm systems and emergency standby generator systems. Experience\nwith BMS/HVAC controls a plus.
  • Strong\nworking knowledge of the IBC, ADA, NFPA 70, 70E, 72, 101, and other relevant\ncodes and industry standards, including CSI Masterformat and Uniformat\nstandards.
  • Well-developed\ncomputer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, PowerPoint, Word,\nExcel, Project) and functional knowledge of power study software (e.g.,\nEasyPower, SKM, ETAP).
  • Excellent\ncommunication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability\nto climb ladders and occasionally work at heights. Occasional light lifting and\nhand tool use.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Professional\nEngineer license, PMP certification.
