Job Title: Press Brake Operator
Location: Almont, MI
Shift: Monday-Friday 6am-4:30pm
Salary Range: $18.00 - $25.00
Job Summary:
Press Brake Operators load and run press brake machines to bend and shape sheet and plate metal, following precise calculations using their talents for mathematics and measuring.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Operates the press brake to shape multiple types of metal, primarily sheet metal.
· Loads pieces of metal into the machine for shaping or straightening, aligning, and positioning the material to achieve specific shapes.
· Measures, aligns, and positions materials per blueprints.
· Sets up and maintains the press brake machine to keep it in good working order. This includes changing the machine’s oil and filters and greasing various parts of the press brake.
· Ability to read and follow blueprints.
· Monitors sheet metal as it is being shaped, inspecting pieces of fresh sheet metal for imperfections and overall quality.
· Follows company, state, and federal safety regulations. This includes wearing proper protective equipment and keeping work area clean and well-organized.
· Contributes to team efforts by performing duties within the Press Brake Department and other Departments, as needed.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
· Sheet metal and/or steel fabrication experience.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
· Work with hands, lifting and moving large pieces of metal, standing for hours at a time.
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
· Ability to pay attention to detail and ensure job is done to the highest quality.
· Excellent communication skills to work in a collaborative environment with other team members.
· Strong measuring skills working with multiple measuring tools to make precise measurements using metric and US measuring systems.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Ability to work independently.
· Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred minimum of 2-year related experience.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 60 pounds regularly.
Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, crawl/climb, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.
Sit, stand, and walk for 1-10 hours per day.
Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
Work in a fast-paced environment wearing hearing protection, vision protection, steel-toed shoes, and other appropriate protective clothing.
