Quality control technicians are responsible for testing materials and finished products to ensure they conform to all applicable laws and company standards. The technician must have general lab knowledge including the ability to verify and validate equipment, procedures and maintain lab cleanliness. They will also work in a collaborative environment with the QC department as well as operations, sales, procurement, R&D and regulatory. This position requires the employee to be continually driving the concept of continuous improvement.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform chemical and analytical testing and approval of finished products in order to verify critical quality control points and that production samples are meeting established specification
  • Prepare certificates of analysis and specification sheets.
  • Provides technical problem-solving support for other departments
  • Assist with product investigations when a non-conforming material is identified, execute material hold procedures when necessary
  • Responsible for controlling physical contaminants, properly storing personal items, and reporting suspicious people or activities to their supervisor.
  • Reliable, predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor of Science required, ideally in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or food science.
  • Other desirable characteristics are superior communication skills and teamwork.
  • 1-2 years of QC experience in food manufacturing preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to be highly organized and have a high attention to detail.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


Employee must have no food allergies and must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Employee must be able to lift 5-gallon pails across laboratory and move about the office, laboratory and storage areas including ascend/descend ladders or stairs. Employee must be able to consistently wear and work with appropriate PPE.
