Responsible for protecting people, property, information, and the reputation of the hospital. Works with hospital executives, directors, and managers to provide a safe and secure customer-focused environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Enforces hospital rules, regulations, policies and
2. Performs rounds of the buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to deter-mine that they are secure and not tampered with
3. Patrols hospital parking lot to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles and verifies if vehicles are parked in restricted areas
4. Checks for potential safety issues such as exterior lighting deficiencies and access routes to emergency and fire entrances are clear
5. Escorts personnel to and from parking lots as requested
6. Responds rapidly to security emergencies and assists with hospital codes
7. Reports security incidents and concerns in accordance with hospital policy
8. Communicates effectively and timely with a direct report, nurse managers, with officers during a shift change on issues that have occurred and situations to be aware of
9. Assures all staff and visitors are wearing proper identification
10. Monitors security cameras
11. Assists Reception/Customer Service Staff throughout shift
12. Assumes coverage of front entrance and desk operations after Reception/Customer Service staff’s shift ends
13. Works in tandem with the Ranken Jordan management and Maryland Heights Police Department in resolving safety/security issues and investigating incidents
14. Reads and responds to emails throughout the shift
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
The Public Security Officer must meet the POST (Police Officer Standards and Training Program) requirements for a Class 1 county in Missouri and a receive a minimum of 24 hours of continuing law enforcement education training every year. Good conceptual and working knowledge of security functions, proactive and reactive security measures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
These include stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, pulling, pushing, standing, carrying, and lifting loads up to 35lbs.
