The Quality Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of industrial quality assurance policies, standards, processes, procedures and controls by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts and initiates the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration process by utilizing existing or newly implemented procedures to assure the quality of assigned products or components. Focuses on methods to improve production flow while minimizing material rejection on the line.
- Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation using stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records to ensure that quality assurance compliance is met.
- Analyzes QA data/reports by applying statistical process control (SPC) methods to evaluate the current process and process changes.
- Must possess superior management skills to create a cohesive and effective quality team which includes Incoming Quality Control (IQC), Material Review Board (MRB) and provides a systematic process of monitoring, supervising, and ensuring that manufacturing processes and products meet defined quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Reviews all purchased products or components by thoroughly examining each piece in order to further provide input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor. Adopts and supports procedures to optimize dock to stock materials for maximum efficiency
- Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities by reporting them to Management in meetings or email to ensure that recommendations on process improvement are addressed.
- Prepares and presents technical and program information using Microsoft PowerPoint and to team members and management by arranging meetings onsite to ensure that pertinent product information is distributed to the appropriate personnel.
- Develop, write and revise the ISO quality standards, and the evaluation and qualification of contract manufacturers and suppliers by utilizing professional expertise and ISO procedural knowledge to ensure product compliancy. Works as focal point person during all ISO audits; completes follow up and resolution of any audit findings in a timely manner.
- Guides and collaborates with Engineering team and Management by setting up and participating in regular meetings to design and implement an improved Configuration Management and Engineering Change Control system, including on-going product improvement that complies with ISO requirements.
- Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards by researching and reading up on up-to-date industry materials pertaining to QA so that Company remains current in its compliancy standards.
- Performs ISO mandated meetings, such as the annual Management Meeting to summarize the past and future process improvements and goals. Works with other departments on continually tracking metrics
- Develop method for inspection, testing, sampling and training by utilizing professional knowledge and expertise to further improve current QA procedures and capabilities.
- Evaluate production capabilities by visiting facilities, monitoring production process and recommending improvements to enhance and increase productivity levels and compliance.
- Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities by meeting with team regularly to ensure that staff is meeting Management and Quality expectation levels
- Other Duties as assigned by Management
Qualifications:
- Intermediate to advance level of professional experience with new product development, the review of engineering drawings, specification, feasibility requirements, tolerance comparison and Government Statements of Work.
- Must have a working knowledge of basic international standards, i.e. MIL-Specs, IPC-610D, ASTM, AMS, and ISO.
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in an Engineering field or equivalent and/or up to 6 years relevant experience.
