Job Description

Job Description

Iron Roots Fitness is a strength-focused training facility in Midtown Sacramento built on high standards, intentional coaching, and a strong community culture. We specialize in small-group strength training that prioritizes proper movement, long-term progress, and confidence both inside and outside the gym.

We are looking for a Group Strength Coach who is passionate about coaching people, not just running workouts and wants to grow within a professional coaching environment.

This is an ideal role for a coach who values education, mentorship, and doing things the right way.

What You’ll Do

  • Coach small-group strength training classes (6–12 clients per session)

  • Teach and reinforce proper lifting technique, movement quality, and safety

  • Deliver clear coaching cues, progressions, and regressions

  • Create a welcoming, motivating, and professional class environment

  • Build relationships with members and contribute to community culture

  • Assist with class setup, breakdown, and overall floor flow

  • Uphold Iron Roots coaching standards, values, and expectations

Programming is provided. Your role is to coach it at a high level.

Who This Role Is For

This role is a great fit if you:

  • Enjoy coaching technique, not just counting reps

  • Take pride in being prepared, punctual, and professional

  • Want to grow as a coach through mentorship and feedback

  • Care about client experience and long-term results

  • Are looking for a gym you can build with, not just work at

Qualifications

Required:

  • CPR/AED certified (or willing to obtain before start date)

  • Experience coaching or assisting in group or personal training settings

  • Strong communication and people skills

  • Ability to coach foundational strength movements safely

Preferred (not required):

  • National certification (NASM, NSCA, StrongFirst, ISSA, etc.)

  • Background in strength training, barbell training, or kettlebells

  • Desire to pursue further education or certifications

  • Interest in a long-term coaching path

If you are currently uncertified but actively pursuing certification, we still encourage you to apply.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Part-time to start with opportunity to grow

  • Morning and/or evening availability preferred

  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience

  • Opportunities for advancement into higher-level coaching roles

Why Iron Roots Fitness

  • Small-group coaching model (not overcrowded classes)

  • Clear standards and expectations

  • Supportive, growth-focused team environment

  • Ongoing mentorship and development

  • Opportunity to grow into a long-term coaching role

We are not a big-box gym.
We are intentional about who we hire and how we coach.
