Position Overview
Provide skateboarding instruction and supervision to participants of varying ability levels to improve their skateboarding skills. Assist in the execution of meaningful skateboard/BMX programs to develop leadership, character, and fitness.
Key Responsibilities
- Present a skateboarding program through cheerful, helpful, and efficient service
- Demonstrate skillful wheel sports abilities to intentionally and cheerfully teach novice riders in BMX/skate
- Assist in the set up and takedown of BMX/skate facilities
- Ensure the safety of all riders in skateboard/BMX activities
- Turn paperwork into supervisor accurately and timely
- Maintenance of Skate/BMX equipment and facilities
- Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
- Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
- Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
- Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook
Qualifications
- Minimum age: 18+
- Preferred: Experience teaching or riding skateboarding
- Preferred: Experience maintaining skateboards or skateparks
- Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication
Physical & Practical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and bike up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
- Housing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55
