Youth Programs Instructors are a critical piece of our school-year youth programming for K-8 th graders. In
filling this role, they help plan, organize, and facilitate activities for the after school and PIR camp
programming, assist youth with problem solving and conflict resolution, and communicate with parents as
needed. Youth Programs Instructors empower children to navigate the spaces outside of school and family
life through indoor and outdoor activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
● Set up, facilitate, and participate in group activities in a safe, fun, and educational manner.
● Manage participant behavior effectively and appropriately and seek support when needed.
● Become a part of our BASE/BSCO community, developing relationships with participants, parents,
and staff.
● Supervise a group of participants, ensuring that all participants are accounted for and safe at all
times.
● Help prepare, clean, and maintain youth spaces and equipment daily.
● Communicate with all staff, including the Youth Programs Manager throughout the day.
PREFERRED EDUCATION | EXPERIENCE | CERTIFICATIONS
● Experience working with children preferred, but not required.
● Prior experience working at an after-school program, camp, or in a childcare setting preferred.
● CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or willingness to obtain certifications required.
● Ability to pass background check required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability and preparedness to work in rapidly changing weather conditions.
Physical strength and endurance to maintain constant supervision of participants and to assist
participants in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, injury, etc.) and to respond to first aid
situations.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
