We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related systems for commercial trucks, buses, and other heavy-duty vehicles. The Diesel Mechanic will ensure the safety, performance, and reliability of diesel-powered vehicles through timely repairs and preventive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshoot diesel engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems.
- Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on diesel-powered vehicles, including oil changes, brake checks, tire rotations, and more.
- Inspect and test mechanical components, including fuel systems, exhaust systems, electrical systems, and air-conditioning systems.
- Repair or replace defective parts and components, including engines, transmissions, exhaust systems, and electrical systems.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including repairs, parts replaced, and maintenance schedules.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to address repair needs and optimize maintenance schedules.
- Use diagnostic tools, electronic testing equipment, and manuals to troubleshoot and repair vehicles.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Assist with other maintenance-related tasks as needed, such as assisting with fleet inspections and coordinating with parts suppliers.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certifications in diesel mechanics preferred).
- Minimum of [X] years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, electrical and mechanical systems, and hydraulics.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot and repair vehicles.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred, but not required).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy parts and tools (up to 50 lbs or more).
- Ability to work in various environments, including indoors and outdoors, with exposure to different weather conditions.
- Ability to kneel, bend, crouch, and lift in tight spaces for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASE certification in diesel engines or related fields (or equivalent certifications).
- Experience working with specific vehicle brands or specialized equipment (e.g., Cummins, Detroit Diesel).
- Knowledge of electronic diagnostic equipment and software.
- CDL Class A or B license.
