The Mechanical Designer/Drafter will support the Orion Program in Cape Canaveral, FL. Designers will work closely with MGSE engineers to provide components or portions of system designs including handling, lifting, test, assembly and transportation of mechanical and electrical components.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform packaging of drawing releases including CCTC management, PMP processing, drawing problem report initiation, and oversight of drawing development and release schedules.
- Responsible for engineering documentation, drawing/Computer Aided Design (CAD) maintenance and verification, and support of cross-discipline product development.
- Use Creo to develop plans, drawings, models, revise and initiate formats for parts, assemblies, and installation engineering.
- Create new parts, drawings, BOMs, assemblies, simplified reps, shrink wraps.
- Support team members with design knowledge.
- Complete layout drawings prepared by others in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices (ASME Y14.5).
- Prepare complete production detail drawings.
- Completes design modifications to improve quality of product or facilitate manufacturing operations.
- Perform research, design, develop, and test a variety of electro/mechanical equipment and systems to include circuitry components, analog and digital computers, and control test equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Must have 3+ years of recent and related work experience.
- Professional experience using a 3D CAD system (Creo, NX SolidWorks, etc.)
- Experience with machine tool design or tool modification.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Familiarity with Electrical Ground Support Equipment Designs.
- Basic rack assembly experience.
- Production of electrical engineering drawings using Creo Parametric and/or Zuken applications.
- Manufacturing and final assembly of Electrical Ground Support Equipment.
- FFMEA
- Ground power and battery emulation systems.
- Electrical Ground Support Equipment troubleshooting.
- Electrical design standards such as EMS200.
- Windchill (EPDM).
- Electrical drawing checking experience.
- Hardware component calibration.
- Development of electrical design documentation to include operations and maintenance of hardware equipment.
- Performing rack tip analysis.
DESIRED:
- Experience or coursework in schematic capture using Zuken or similar tools.
- Mechanical drawing checking experience.
- Windows and/or RedHat OS experience.
- NI Labview operations.
- Software development/maintenance.
- Instructor level experience or coursework in analog and digital design.
WORK LOCATION:
- This position is located onsite.
- This position may require some travel.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

- May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
- Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
