Oberg Industries is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our Facilities team at our Freeport, PA facility. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment in our high-precision machining and manufacturing facilities. The ideal Custodian candidate takes pride in their work, follows safety protocols, and contributes to a productive work atmosphere for all employees. This is a 2nd shift Custodian position with working hours from 4:00pm until 2:00am.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of offices, production floors, restrooms, breakrooms, and common areas.
- Empty and dispose of trash and recycling in accordance with company and safety guidelines.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors using manual or powered equipment.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper products, and sanitizers.
- Clean glass surfaces, walls, and interior windows.
- Shovel snow, apply ice melt, and clean exterior walkways and entrances during winter months to ensure safe access to the facility.
- Notify management of any repairs needed or hazards observed.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies in good working order.
- Follow all safety and health regulations, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- At least 1 year of previous janitorial, custodial, or facilities cleaning experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and buffers.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to cleanliness and safety.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work all shifts including holidays and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift or move objects up to 35lbs. with control and unassisted.
- Work in various environments including production floors, offices, and outdoor areas.
- Must be able to wear PPE (safety glasses, ear protection, steel toe shoes, etc.)
Work Environment:
This position is based in a precision machining and manufacturing setting, which may involve exposure to industrial noise, oils, dust, and moving machinery. Proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is provided and required. At Oberg Industries, we believe in fostering a collaborative on-site work environment.
