Job Title: Coronado Fitness Center Manager

Department: Parks and Recreation

Reports To: Director of Parks and Recreation

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: Appointed by the Director of Parks and Recreation. Supervises the operations and maintenance of the Coronado Fitness Center. Is responsible for the delivery of outstanding customer service by all employees. Personally resolve customer complaints or problems. Requires valid Arkansas driver's license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Must have a thorough knowledge of rules and regulations of the fitness equipment and the swimming pool and enforcement of same.
  2. In order to perform required duties, employee must maintain a high level of physical fitness through a regular program of strength training and cardiovascular exercise.
  3. Effectively recruit, train and supervise personnel within their division, including life guarding and class instruction.
  4. Ability to work with staff in implementing new programs, including additional classes and organizing special events.
  5. Maintain records, daily reports, records of events and all other reports as needed.
  6. Must be knowledgeable of building, equipment and pool maintenance, inventory and supplies.
  7. Must have knowledge of budget and implementation of same.
  8. Maintain a safe and clean facility at all times, placing a high priority on facility maintenance.
  9. Develop and implement marketing plan to ensure continued growth and stability of fitness center.
  10. May be required to drive POA vehicle or personal vehicle while conducting POA business.
  11. Regular attendance is required.
  12. Any other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  13. Deliver outstanding customer service, making every effort to accommodate customer needs.
  14. Ensure the safety of patrons and staff through accident prevention and safety policy, enforcing all facility and recreation location rules and regulations.
  15. Have a thorough knowledge of rules, regulations and operational use with regard to POA amenity use.
  16. Maintain a safe, clean amenity/facility at all times.
  17. Instruct classes, both land and water.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees in Fitness Center. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Recreation Exercise Physiology or related field and three years supervisory experience or equivalent experience in the recreation field.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Either hold or have on staff a Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator Certificate holder. CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Requires a valid Arkansas driver's license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.
