JOB SUMMARY


This position assists the Aquatic Park Supervisor in coordinating the operations, programs, and staff of the Aquatic Park.

MAJOR DUTIES



  1. Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with policies, procedures and applicable laws including: interviewing, hiring and training staff; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; scheduling training and testing; coordinating leave time; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  2. Assists in hiring and providing training to all staff, scheduling work of staff, and ensuring compliance with all city requirements.

  3. Supervises the working of all employees and provides necessary additional training to ensure effective safety of park guests and the efficient operation of the facility.

  4. Assists in maintaining employees work schedules to ensure the allocation of employees resources is appropriate as per requirements.

  5. Analyzes all requirements of all park guests, assists all staff in resolving all customer issues while ensuring compliance with all applicable policies and codes.

  6. Ensures compliance with guidelines and maintains neat and clean facilities.

  7. Assists in overseeing the maintenance of the pools, chemistry, cleanliness, and any other related maintenance to include: testing water, hosing decks, adding various chemicals, operating filter systems, heater, chlorinators, vacuuming, set up of recreation equipment, ordering chemicals and cleaning equipment, scouring tiles, cleaning gutters and skimmers, mixing chemicals, adjusting controllers, painting equipment and other items necessary.

  8. Assists in monitoring and maintaining an inventory of all food, products, and supplies; provides staff with all supplies as per requirement.

  9. Composes various types of correspondence, agreements, etc.

  10. Prepares publicity information; designs brochures and fliers.

  11. Disseminates a variety of information and/or reports to various agencies, divisions, or departments via telephone, mail, email or

  12. Follows up on inquiries from various agencies, groups, media, etc., regarding organization programs and services.

  13. Approves permits, use of facilities and credit refunds.

  14. Coordinates payroll processes.

  15. Receives and receipts registration fees.

  16. Attends meetings and presents information and discusses related issues; prepares information for distribution.

  17. Performs the duties of the Supervisor in his or her absence.

  18. Performs all other duties as assigned.

  10. Skill in developing cost analysis for programs and facilities.

  11. Skill in researching grants and other funding sources.

  12. Skill in the supervision and management of staff.

  13. Skill in oral and written communication.

  14. Skill in interpersonal relations.

  15. Skill in using standard office equipment.


SUPERVISORY CONTROLS


The Aquatic Park Supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

GUIDELINES


Guidelines include Health Department regulations, pool operation standards, and city and department policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK



  • The work consists of related supervisory and facility and program management duties. The variety of duties to be performed contributes to the complexity of the position.

  • The purpose of this position is to assist in supervising the operations, programs, and personnel of the Aquatic Park. Success in this position contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of leisure services to the general public.

  • Contacts are typically with elected and appointed officials, co-workers, other city personnel, vendors, representatives of schools and community groups, and members of the general public.

  • Contacts are typically to provide services, to give or exchange information, to motivate persons, or to resolve problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT


  • Work is typically performed in both office and outdoor aquatic environments.
  • Requires walking, standing, lifting moderate weights, and exposure to heat, water, and chemicals.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY


This position has direct supervision over assigned personnel within an area, department, or unit. Direct supervision typically involves the ability to manage schedules, performance, and the interpersonal issues of other employees. It may involve the ability to recommend changes to work priorities or strategies within an area, department, or unit.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • Associates degree required; and

  • More than one year of related experience required; or

  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work.

  • Certified Pool Operator.

  • ServSafe certification within one year of employment.

  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certifications.

  • Possession of a valid state drivers license issued for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
