Job DescriptionA Day in the Life of a Inpatient Clinical Dietitian Lead
Works under the Director of Food & Nutrition Services (FNS) and reports to the Clinical Nutrition Manager. This position is responsible for the Medical Nutrition Therapy of the patients and clients of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC). Provides nutrition education to the Department and Community.

Here is What You Will Be Doing:
- Coordinates with the Clinical Nutrition Manager and assists in leading the inpatient clinical nutrition team activities, training, projects, and functions as requested.
- Assists with training, scheduling, and communication with the clinical nutrition team.
- Functions as the EPIC trainer for the clinical nutrition team.
- Coordinates with the Clinical Nutrition Manager and assists with the maintenance of the nutrition charting areas of EPIC and submits requests for changes/additions to the EPIC nutrition charting as requested.
- Assists in coordination of dietetic intern inpatient clinical nutrition rotations and serves as back-up to intern preceptor as needed.
- Assists the clinical nutrition manager with coordinating and tracking of data collection and performance improvement projects.
- Supports communication with the Room Service Call-Center & Patient Services Supervisor and assists with education of the nutrition techs/FNS department as needed.
- Helps lead the FNS patient meal rounding process and procedure.
- Helps maintain the FNS Food Service Computer System – HealthTouch.
- Performs nutrition assessments and reassessments on all patients as per policy.
- Develops nutrition care plans to meet the patient’s needs. Recommends and helps manage specialized nutrition support, communicating with physician and healthcare personnel as needed. Evaluates care plan for effectiveness and revises as necessary.
- Evaluates the need for Medical Nutrition Therapy Education and develops a plan based on learning needs. Assesses the effectiveness of the education process and helps maintain educational material. Includes family or others in the process as needed.
- Assists the Nutrition Technicians with diet orders, menus, menu selection and menu correction, as needed.
- Assists FNS outpatient nutrition services as needed.
- Provides group lectures and nutrition education for the community when requested.
- Identifies and addresses psychological, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
- Upon Credentialing: order patient diets, labs, and other nutrition-related orders.
Desired Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of clinical nutrition, specialized nutrition support, nutritional value of foods, interpretation and implementation of special diets, meal planning and preparation that is culturally appropriate
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff
- Ability to interpret diet manual and menus
- Ability to organize workload and use effective time management
- Ability to help program and operate the HealthTouch food service management system
Here is What You Need:
- Licensed Dietitian by the Wyoming Dietetics Licensing Board
- Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics- Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR)
- Five (5) or more years of experience as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietetic Technician in a clinical nutrition setting
- 14 Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date
Nice to Have:
- Additional credentials/certifications through CDR
- Certified Nutrition Support Clinical (CNSC) through the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN)
- Previous leadership experience in a clinical nutrition or food service setting
- Formal leadership training
