Position Summary
A Qualified Medication Administration Personnel is responsible for accurate and precise administration of
medication to residents in a fast-paced environment, working closely with residents in a respectful manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Checks and follows guidelines for distribution of medications to designated residents in accordance with
Federal, State and local guidelines
Records scheduled and as needed (PRN) medications on the Electronic Medication Administration Record
(EMAR)
Annotates progress notes and monitors 72-hour medicine modifications
Orders medications that are due for re-order
Participates in daily medications inventories
Responsible for re-stocking med carts and keeping an accurate count of medications
Maintains cleanliness of all areas, products and supplies, including med carts
Assists Personal Care Providers
Notifies supervisory personnel of any situation pertaining to quality customer service, safety, productivity,
security or any other situation that may have an adverse effect in the building, including resident rooms
Demonstrates an understanding of medication terminology, equipment and techniques to make accurate
conversions of liquid and scored medications
Ability to use Physicians Desk Reference (PDR) to define medicinal use and cross-referencing
Responsible for answering emergency and routine calls via the pendant call system
Makes beds and checks resident rooms for trash and soiled laundry
Ability to document codes using iPad
Basic Computer knowledge
Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age, in accordance with Federal Law and Standards
Colorado QMAP in good standing
Passionate about working in an elderly community and exceptional customer service
Able to perform arithmetic calculations
Ability to work independently, effectively manage own time and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Effectively communicate with staff and elderly residents
Ability to read, understand and follow through with verbal and written instructions
Willingness to learn new tasks and processes
Maintain a flexible schedule in order to meet the needs of the department
Must meet a required work schedule and adhere to company attendance policies
Must pass pre-employment drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiries.
Physical Requirements
Consistently required to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, grasp, twist and turn, talk, listen and hear. Required
finger manipulation and repetitive motions with hands. Occasionally required to stoop.
Ability to lift 30-50 pounds as needed
Medium physical strength required to perform work
