We are seeking a board-certified Psychiatrist for a 55-day locum tenens assignment in California. This position starts on Oct 15, 2025, and offers day shifts from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintain overall clinical responsibility for mental health programs within the facility
- Oversee completion of mental health screenings and evaluations
- Perform sick call visits and chronic care visits
- Conduct rounds in all units
- Formulate working diagnoses, develop and implement treatment plans, and evaluate or modify therapeutic regimens to promote positive patient outcomes
- Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care
- Provide medication management, therapy, and other evidence-based treatment plans for mental health needs
- Respond to acute mental health crises within the facility
- Support rehabilitation of patients and facilitate successful transition back into the community
- Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including correctional staff, psychologists, social workers, and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans and ensure staff responsiveness to patient needs
Additional Information
- Active California medical license required
- Board certification in Psychiatry required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Background check is required; assignment can begin as soon as clearance is obtained
- Corrections experience is preferred but not required
