Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join their Personal Injury practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to grow in the field, as training will be provided for candidates with less experience. The Legal Assistant will support attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, ensuring cases move smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities

Assist attorneys in preparing for client and witness meetings, depositions, hearings, mediations, trials, and closings.

Draft legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, discovery responses, expert witness designations, motions, pre-trial orders, complaints, and subpoenas.

Redact medical bills for trial use.

Schedule and coordinate all trial-related meetings.

Calculate and track court deadlines.

File pleadings in state and federal courts, the Court of Appeals, and the Virginia Supreme Court.

Manage and audit liens, including ERISA, Medicare, Medicaid, and workers’ compensation.

Conduct intake interviews with new clients.

Maintain and update records within the case management system.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-
1.5+ years of plaintiff-side personal injury experience (training available for less-experienced candidates).

Familiarity with lien resolution, including ERISA, Medicare, Medicaid, and workers’ compensation.

Experience handling complex, high-volume caseloads.

Prior use of case management software.

Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Standard office setting requiring extended periods of sitting, computer use, and phone work.

Occasional standing and walking.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative office environment.

Manual dexterity for operating office equipment (phones, keyboards, copiers).
