The City of Fishers is seeking enthusiastic individuals who are eager to make a positive impact on the lives of community members to be Personal Trainers. This position is responsible for providing high-quality personal training services to patrons that develop client knowledge, maximize workout efficiency, improve strength and cardiovascular fitness, increase endurance, and improve overall sense of wellbeing. Examples of Duties
- Help clients set and meet specific goals to improve their fitness by designing and implementing customized personal training programs based on the specific needs of the client.
- Demonstrate proper, safe and effective exercise techniques, as well as provide feedback, corrections and modifications to accommodate differing fitness levels and injuries/medical conditions.
- Communicate and coordinate with clients and respond to inquiries. Market the personal training program as required to members and meet program goals.
- Maintain working knowledge of fitness trends and equipment to provide effective information and support to members.
- Maintain safe and clean environment by enforcing all safety guidelines, conducting regular inspections, and reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Provide excellent customer service to all patrons by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment. Solicit feedback from participants to continuously improve programs and services.
- Ensure safety of patrons and be prepared to take charge in an emergency if necessary. Act as a first responder in the event of an emergency, providing immediate assistance, administering first aid or CPR as needed, and following proper emergency protocols to ensure member and staff safety. Report any emergencies immediately and complete accident reports as necessary.
- Attend scheduled meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain accurate records as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- One (1) or more years of experience in fitness industry.
- A basic knowledge of nutritional guidelines and a working knowledge of free weights, weight machines, and general fitness equipment. Basic knowledge of nutritional guidelines.
- Capable of performing body composition assessments using both skinfold calipers and bioelectrical impedance analysis.
- A Nationally Recognized Group Fitness Instructor Certification (e.g., ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NASM or other accredited organizations) required.
- Adult CPR/AED, First Aid certifications or ability to obtain with the first 60 days. Training will be provided.
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and background noises.
