Job Summary
The Production Operator at Mate Precision Technologies may be responsible for performing a variety of production operations. Responsibilities may include saw operations, sandblasting & black oxide treatment, and urethane production. Each Production Operator will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one of the three primary areas (Saw Operations, Sandblasting & Black Oxide, or Urethane) while maintaining cross-functional knowledge to serve as a back-up in a minimum of one other area. This role supports efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing processes through machine operation, inspection, and continuous improvement activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform production operations, including:
- Cutting Operations: Receive raw material, operate multiple saws simultaneously, adhere to cut schedule, replenish kanban as needed, perform cycle counts and make adjustments within the ERP system, and work with the supply chain team as needed for inventory accuracy management.
- Sandblasting and Black Oxide: Set air pressures and sand introduction rates to specifications; determine completion of blast operation; inspect finished parts for quality. Perform chemical processes and treatments, monitor tank times, inspect for conformance, maintain chemical balances, operate tumblers, knurling machines, and work with vendors as required.
- Urethane Production: Precisely measure and mix chemicals, set up and operate ovens, manual lathes, and manual milling machines; pour and cure urethane products; assist with mold design or improvements.
- Act as the SME in one designated process area, providing technical expertise and training to others, while maintaining functional knowledge to back up a minimum of one additional process area.
- Operate additional equipment such as saws, drill and arbor presses, pinning (Autosert) machines, EDM hole-popping machines, and punch presses as needed.
- Safely operate overhead hoists, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as required.
- Conduct machine set-up, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
- Perform part inspection using gauges and inspection devices to verify conformance to specifications.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through precise recording of component usage.
- Clean and treat parts or assemblies with rust preventative, oiling, and coolant maintenance.
- Follow established schedules to meet productivity and delivery objectives.
- Participate in 5S, Lean, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Report equipment or process problems promptly to the foreman or maintenance.
- Demonstrate professionalism by being dependable, respectful, and collaborative.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- One to two years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as SDS sheets, work instructions, and manuals related to the maintenance and operation of various equipment is required.
- Able to wear all required PPE for extended periods of time to include but not limited to supplied air hoods, safety glasses, and protective toed shoes/boots.
- Experience working with an ERP system (such as Oracle and/or Factivity) is preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Frequent standing, reaching, and walking.
- Use of hands to operate tools, perform manual labor tasks, and manipulate materials.
- Perform repetitive motions with hands and arms such as reaching, pulling, lifting, and holding.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and some chemicals may be common.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Pay, Work Schedule & Benefits
- Pay Range: $17.96 – $24.16/hour, plus an additional $1.00/hour shift differential for 2nd shift.
- Work Hours/Schedule:
- Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM
- or Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
