Sunrise Communities is looking for a skilled, dependable Handyman / Maintenance Specialist to be the operational backbone of our Fort Wayne community. If you enjoy independent work, quick problem-solving, and seeing the direct result of your efforts, this stable, full-time role is perfect for you.

You won't be stuck doing the same task daily—you'll use your full range of trade skills to ensure our residents live comfortably and safely.\

What You'll Own (Responsibilities)

This role requires a true "Jack-of-All-Trades" mindset. You will:

Own the Fix: Independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide variety of maintenance issues across all residential units and common areas.
Master of Variety: Execute hands-on repairs including light plumbing, basic electrical troubleshooting, appliance repair, drywall patching, interior/exterior painting, and minor carpentry.
Resident Service Hero: Respond quickly and professionally to all resident service requests, ensuring the highest level of satisfaction and closing out work orders efficiently.
Unit Transformation: Take charge of unit turns (preparing vacant homes for new residents), ensuring they meet our high-quality standards rapidly and thoroughly.
Preventative Care: Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and seasonal inspections to reduce emergency repairs and maintain the long-term integrity of the property.

What You'll Bring (Qualifications)

You don't need a specific degree—just proven, reliable experience across the trades.

1+ years of Demonstrated Experience in residential maintenance, property repairs, or as a general handyman.
Strong General Knowledge: Proficiency in executing repairs across two or more core areas (e.g., light plumbing, electrical systems, appliance repair, or carpentry/painting).
Physical Stamina: Ability to handle a physical workload, lift up to 50 lbs, and comfortably work in various weather conditions.
Tools & Mobility: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is essential (you are the mobile solution!).
Attitude: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to professional, friendly resident service.
