Job Title: Wireline Shop TechnicianFunction: Operations SupportExempt/Non-Exempt: Non-ExemptLocation: Broussard, LAReports to: Wireline Manager

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM with 1 Week On / 1 Week Off 24-Hour On-Call Rotation (Including Weekends)


The Wireline Shop Technician supports field operations by maintaining, preparing, and servicing a variety of wireline tools and equipment. This role requires a safety-first mindset, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The technician will follow a regular Monday-Friday schedule and participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation for one week on, one week off, including weekends. Candidates must be dependable, responsive, and committed to high standards of quality and performance.


Key Responsibilities

Adhere to all WFA safety guidelines and actively support a positive, safety-first, and improvement-oriented work culture.

Develop technical proficiency by learning and working independently on a variety of wireline tools and equipment under the supervision of wireline managers.

Obtain and maintain user-level State and Federal explosives licenses, meeting all requirements including background checks and drug screening.

Support QA/QC efforts by assisting with the maintenance and organization of quality assurance and control documentation.

Manage inventory records for both rental and company-owned tools and equipment returned from offshore operations.

Foster strong working relationships with vendors, colleagues, and field personnel to support efficient operations and communication.

Provide cross-functional support by working in different shop areas and assisting with various job functions as operational needs arise.

Participate in a rotating 24-hour on-call schedule, one week on and one week off, including availability during nights and weekends.


Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities

Technical Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of wireline operations, tools, and pressure control equipment.
  • Familiarity with oilfield terminology and safety procedures.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance practices, and tool functionality.
  • Awareness of QA/QC protocols and documentation standards.

Skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude: ability to disassemble, troubleshoot, and reassemble equipment.
  • Effective time management and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Proficient use of hand and power tools, along with measuring instruments.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking, documentation, and email communication.
  • Ability to interpret written instructions, schematics, and work orders.

Capabilities:

  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision once trained.
  • Ability to follow strict safety guidelines, including handling explosives under regulation.
  • Physically able to lift 50+ lbs., stand for long periods, and perform hands-on work.
  • Willingness to work in different shop areas and adapt to evolving operational needs.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with supervisors, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Dependability and responsiveness, especially during on-call periods.
  • Ability to maintain composure and productivity in a fast-paced or emergency environment.

Strength and Force (minimal requirement)

This position will frequently require 10-50 lbs. of force and rarely require 50+ lbs. of force.


Physical Demands

Requirements for this position more than 1/3 of the time while on the job (but not limited to):

Standing, walking, sitting, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, and hear, use hands to finger, handle or feel.


Work Environment

The type of environment this position will be exposed to more than 1/3 of the time while on the job (but not limited to): Vibration, Fumes or airborne particles, work near moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions (other than weather), outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat (non-weather), and risk of electrical shock.


Noise Environment

The amount of noise for this job is: Very Loud Noise (requires the use of ear plugs)
