Job Description
Are you an assertive and savvy legal professional seeking a rewarding part-time opportunity? We are a solo-practice law firm in the Chicagoland area that serves as a court-appointed representative for children in complex family law cases. We're looking for an experienced and highly capable individual to manage our administrative operations and, most importantly, diligently handle client billing and collections.
This is an ideal position for a semi-retired paralegal or a seasoned professional who thrives on independence and is looking for a meaningful role without the commitment of a full-time schedule.
What You'll Do:
This role requires a proactive and professional demeanor. Your responsibilities will be centered on two key areas:
-
Collections & Billing: This is a crucial component of the job. You will be responsible for getting invoices out and aggressively following up on payments from parents. You will also prepare fee petitions for the court and present collection plans to the attorney.
-
Office Administration: You will manage the firm's calendar, answer all incoming calls, and professionally schedule appointments with parents. Your ability to apply logic and assertiveness to scheduling and follow-up is essential.
What We're Looking For:
-
Professional Savvy: You have a strong understanding of how a law firm operates and are comfortable navigating the court system.
-
Assertive & Results-Driven: You are not afraid to be persistent and proactive. Your primary goal is to effectively follow up and collect outstanding payments.
-
Experienced: You have prior experience working in a law firm environment, and you are comfortable with legal billing systems and general office tasks.
-
Independent: You are a self-starter who can work on your own and present solutions, not just problems.
Position Details:
-
Part-time, 1099 Contractor position.
-
No benefits are included.
-
Compensation is competitive and will be based on your experience.
If you are a professional who is ready to take ownership of a critical role and make a tangible impact, we encourage you to apply.
