Tool Room Technician
A manufacturing company in Grayslake, IL is looking for a skilled Tool Room Technician to support its precision tooling operations. This hands-on role involves building, maintaining, and repairing tools, fixtures, jigs, and production equipment in a toolroom environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tool and die making, CNC machining, and custom assembly machine repair.
Responsibilities of the Tool Room Technician

Build and assemble new tooling, fixtures, and jigs to support production.

Sharpen, repair, and maintain existing tooling for optimal performance.

Set up and operate a Haas Vertical Machining Center (VMC) to machine tooling components and occasional production parts.

Perform final assembly and debugging of custom production assembly machines.

Maintain toolroom equipment, including cleaning, coolant refills, and oil level checks.
Requirements of the Tool Room Technician

Minimum 5 years of experience as a tool and die maker, with emphasis on tooling repair and maintenance.

At least 3 years of experience setting up and operating VMCs to produce close-tolerance, one-off parts.

Ownership of standard machinist tools, including micrometers, depth micrometers, calipers, and grinding vises.

Understanding of die sensors and die timing.

Proficiency with SolidWorks, CAMWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Excel.

Experience with Mitsubishi wire EDM, including setup and CAMWorks programming.

Experience with deep draw tooling is a strong plus.
1st shift, DIRECT HIRE
Pay is $33.00 - $40.00 an hour, based on experience
