Work Schedule/Hours: 1st Shift - 5:00AM - 1:30PM (Monday-Friday)

Pay Range: $20.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a Painter Prep Technician to support our Industrial Painting team by preparing parts and materials for final painting. This role is critical to ensuring a smooth, efficient painting process and requires a strong focus on detail, cleanliness, and organization. The Painter Prep Technician will work closely with Industrial Painters to meet production schedules while maintaining high quality and safety standards in a manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare parts for painting, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and fixturing according to specifications.
  • Assist with mixing and preparing paints under the supervision of the Industrial Painter.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, including the prep area, paint booth, and storage areas.
  • Ensure proper labeling and handling of paints, solvents, and chemicals in compliance with safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Assist in the inspection of prepped parts to ensure readiness for painting.
  • Load and unload parts for the painting process, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
  • Perform basic maintenance on prep tools and equipment, reporting issues to the lead painter or supervisor.
  • Follow standardized procedures and safety practices at all times, including wearing required PPE.
  • Work collaboratively with the painting team to meet production deadlines and quality goals.
  • Support Industrial Painters by handling routine tasks, allowing them to focus on precision painting.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, including Saturdays, as needed to meet production demands

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience in manufacturing, production, or assembly environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand basic work instructions in English.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and prep equipment.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and handle repetitive tasks.
  • Good vision and hand-eye coordination for precision prep work.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Familiarity with industrial painting or coating processes is a plus but not required—training will be provided.

ENVIRONMENT: Bench work, seated and standing, environmentally controlled, non-hazardous chemical fumes, varying degrees of noise, from fans and related paint spraying equipment, closed space, and repetitive tasks with little variety

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items over 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
