Our client is seeking a highly motivated Machinist in Middletown, CT. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in their Machine Shop, directly contributing to their company Core Values (REACH). We are looking for individuals with a passion on what they do and a strong desire to make a positive impact. Work under the direction of the group leader or supervisor and with little supervision, specify exact tolerances and finish specifications to perform diversified machining operations.
Responsibilities:
- Use blueprint, schematics, written and verbal directions, shop policies, and quality standards, to obtain required contours, dimensions, and finish specifications.
- Calibrate and modify operational sequences, to adjust speed of machining and frequency of cuts.
- Set up computer programming to perform machining sequences.
- Operate, edit, and adjust a variety of CNC and manual machines. Edit and check programming of machines.
- Determine operational or tooling sequence. Select feeds, speeds, and tooling. Hold close and exacting tolerances.
- Perform general shop work such as deburring, machine repair and maintenance duties.
- Inspect own work using functional gages and inspection equipment to maintain maximum quality.
- Inspect production work as often as necessary to maintain maximum quality standards and to prevent scrap work and minimal rework.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Report defective material and other unusual condition or circumstance to supervisor.
- Maintains workflow while balancing changing needs of the business. Communicates information to appropriate departments and individuals. Provides updates to management.
- Implements Lean methodologies when developing project plans/layouts to achieve company goals in cost, throughput, productivity, quality, and delivery.
- Ensures that work environment is clean, safe and that safety, health and environmental procedures and regulations are followed.
- Provides a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contributes to positive teamwork environment.
Desired Background/Skills:
- Use of elementary geometry, algebra, and trigonometric principles together with the use of drawings, specifications, charts, and tables.
- Ability to use various types of precisions measuring tools and instruments.
- Familiarity with shop practices, inspection, and safety.
