About Us
Glen Park Senior Living operates seven assisted-living communities across Los Angeles County. Our HR department manages multiple employee-relations matters, unemployment claims, compliance reviews, and internal investigations. We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Independent Paralegal to support us on a part-time, as-needed basis.
Job Summary
The Independent Paralegal will assist the HR Director with preparing legal documents, organizing case files, and supporting employment-related matters. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys behind-the-scenes legal work, can meet strict deadlines, and works well independently. This is a 1099 contractor role, not an employee position.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize case files for unemployment hearings, employee investigations, and HR compliance matters.
- Draft letters, statements, and supporting documents under direction of HR and outside counsel.
- Review and organize evidence such as schedules, write-ups, reports, and witness notes.
- Create timelines, investigation summaries, and case narratives.
- Assist with maintaining legally compliant HR documentation.
- Support attorney communication and document preparation as requested.
- Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of paralegal or legal assistant experience (employment law preferred).
- Strong understanding of California documentation standards and HR case preparation.
- Excellent writing, organization, and file-management skills.
- Ability to work independently as a 1099 contractor.
- High level of confidentiality and attention to detail.
- Paralegal certificate preferred but not required if experience is strong.
Compensation
Competitive hourly rate, based on experience. Typical range for independent paralegals in Los Angeles: $28–$35 per hour.
