Job DescriptionJob Title: Legal Assistant Location: Portland, Oregon Schedule: Hybrid (4 days in-office/1 remote after training) Pay Rate: $35-$45/hr. Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire Job Description: LHH Recruitment Solutions is working with a well-regarded Portland law firm to hire a skilled Legal Assistant with a strong background in corporate law. This role provides critical support to a team of attorneys handling both corporate transactions and general litigation. The right candidate will be detail-oriented, highly responsive, and proactive, with at least 5 years of legal assistant experience. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Responsibilities:

  • Draft, edit, and proofread a range of legal documents, including corporate agreements, correspondence, and presentations
  • Provide support for both litigation and transactional matters—manage court filings, due diligence, and document preparation
  • Act as a point of contact for client communication; manage requests with professionalism and discretion
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical filing systems in line with firm protocols
  • Assist with new matter setup, including conflict checks, engagement letters, and file organization
  • Coordinate attorney schedules, manage deadlines, arrange meetings, and handle travel logistics
  • Process attorney time entries, prepare billing edits and invoices, and ensure compliance with client billing guidelines
  • Handle expense reports, vendor payments, and track client billing and collections
  • Support attorney compliance (licensing, CLEs), and assist with business development initiatives, research, and special projects

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a legal assistant, with a focus on corporate law
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
  • Proactive and adaptable with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with iManage, Adobe Acrobat, billing software, and document comparison tools is a plus
  • Willingness to provide occasional overtime and assist with team overflow when needed

Pay Details: $35.00 to $45.00 per hour
