Job Summary:
Moscow & Pullman Building Supply is looking for a dependable and skilled Small Engine Mechanic to join our hardworking Rental Department team. This is a hands-on, shop-based position perfect for someone who enjoys working with their hands, diagnosing mechanical issues, and keeping things running smoothly. You'll be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of small engines and rental equipment, ensuring that all items are safe, clean, and ready for customer use.

Essential Job Functions:
- Detailed inspections and accurately diagnose issues with small engines and rental equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety before and after customer use.
- Complete timely repairs and perform regular preventative maintenance on a variety of rental tools and machines to keep the fleet in top working condition.
- Log all services, repairs, and inspections in an organized manner to ensure equipment history is up to date and easily accessible for the team.
- Create and manage work orders for each repair task, order necessary parts, and process them efficiently to avoid delays and minimize equipment downtime.
- Speak clearly and professionally with customers about their personal equipment being serviced, offering updates, recommendations, and answering any questions about the repair process.
- Use good judgment, troubleshooting skills, and creative thinking to find solutions to mechanical problems or unexpected repair challenges.
- Assemble new equipment or repair components according to manufacturer guidelines to ensure safety, quality, and readiness for rental or sale.
- Take initiative and manage daily responsibilities with minimal supervision, staying organized and productive while still being a team player.
Working Conditions:
This is a physically active role that requires being on your feet for most of the day, often performing tasks that involve bending, lifting, and moving equipment. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and noise levels. The ability to work in changing environments and stay focused in a busy, fast-paced setting is essential.
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Requirements:Must pass a background check
