Harbor is seeking a Medical Office Assistant to join our Toledo team! The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for patient care under the direction of medical leadership, and/or a licensed health care professional.

Position is full-time, 1st shift.

Education/Experience/Other Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Previous experience in Mental Health preferred.
  • Must be able to perform clinical and clerical duties as needed.
  • Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a strong commitment towards achieving customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Must be proficient and accurate in data entry and be able to navigate through Microsoft Windows based applications.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of people and be a team player.
  • When applicable, non-licensed staff will be required to complete 20 hours of CEUs every 24 months.
  • BLS and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.

Essential Job Competencies/Primary Duties:

  1. Assists provider with patient care.
  2. Provides Patient/Family education.
  3. Assist patients with medication prescriptions and testing procedures as directed by providers.
  4. May assume responsibilities of determining and responding to the needs of patients and visitors when they contact the practice either by phone or in person.
  5. May be required to fill in for front desk staff if needed.
  6. Answers and/or triages patient phone calls.
  7. Coordinates scheduling of patients' appointments.
  8. Assists clinical staff and/or providers as needed.
  9. Provides quality and timely support to both internal and external customers and strives for customer satisfaction.
  10. Documents in a clear, efficient, and effective manner, in conjunction with leadership and Harbor guidelines.
  11. Attends meetings as appropriate and serves on office committees as assigned.
  12. Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies and demonstrates continued growth.
  13. In providing billable services, fulfills or exceeds unit expectations established by Harbor.
  14. May float to other locations to accommodate client or agency need.
