Attorney | Water Law | Hybrid | 147978
Job Description
Job Description
Salt Lake City continues to attract professionals who value clean air, mountain access, and a thriving business community. This opportunity offers a place in that ecosystem: a respected, collaborative legal team seeking a seasoned attorney to take on some of Utah's most meaningful water, land, and development matters. Mission Recruiting is proud to represent this long-established firm as it expands its Real Estate and Land Use group with a dedicated water-law practitioner.
This role centers on sophisticated work involving water rights, adjudication, permitting, regulatory compliance, and the intersection of land development with natural-resource issues. It's an ideal fit for an attorney who thrives on solving complex regulatory challenges, enjoys close interaction with state and local agencies, and appreciates the balance of hands-on client service and long-term strategic planning.
What You'll Do
- Guide clients through water-rights adjudications, permitting, and regulatory compliance
- Manage change applications, non-use matters, groundwater and surface-water issues, and related agency processes
- Advise on land-use and zoning matters, including entitlements, development applications, and municipal interactions
- Draft and review real-estate documents and regulatory filings
- Monitor developments in Utah water law, environmental regulation, and land-use requirements
- Partner with colleagues across the real estate, corporate, and environmental teams
- Provide practical, strategic counsel to a diverse client base, including developers, municipalities, and private stakeholders
- Mentor junior team members as part of a supportive, growth-minded practice
What Will Help You Thrive
- A strong background in water law and hands-on experience handling adjudications, permitting, or regulatory matters
- Familiarity with land use, zoning, environmental, or natural-resource issues
- A Juris Doctor and active membership in a U.S. bar, with openness to obtaining Utah Bar membership
- Clear communication, strong writing ability, and confidence in managing complex matters independently
- An interest in contributing to a collaborative, relationship-driven practice culture
Compensation
- Base salary: $170,000 to $188,000
- Generous performance-based bonus structure
- Hybrid flexibility available for strong candidates
- Realistic partnership path
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage (with dental 100 percent employer-paid for employees and families)
- PPO and HDHP options with cost-sharing
- Life and AD&D insurance with optional supplemental coverage
- Short-term and long-term disability insurance
- Supplemental long-term care insurance
- 401(k) with full match up to 3 percent, plus discretionary profit sharing
- Health Savings Account with employer contributions
- Flexible Spending Accounts
- Free parking or public transit pass
- No waiting periods for benefits
- FMLA, unemployment, and workers' compensation support
Work Expectations
- Office-focused role with one hybrid day per week
- Reasonable workload with an annual billable goal structured for sustainability
If you're looking to deepen your water-law practice while joining a respected and stable legal team, Mission Recruiting would love to connect with you. Let's discuss how this position can align with your experience, goals, and life in Utah.
